Camping in Central Oregon

When we pulled up to our camp spot near Sisters Oregon, I have to admit, I felt a little weepy. It was gorgeous. It was huge. It was bliss. For the most part, our past camping experiences have been in tiny, cramped spaces where you were so close to your neighbors it was awkward. We pulled up to beautiful Suttle Lake and saw this:

I could not believe how gigantic the spot was! And it was far away from other campers. This was great because not only would we not be kept up until 2:00am by rowdy campers, they would not be woken up at 6:00am by loud children who like to talk at 100% volume first thing in the morning! The kids had so much room to run!

We've been here for 2 hours and Finley asks to go home or to Emma & Jackson's house.

Our digs

These logs at our camp site made for great fun!

Mmmm... baked beans!

Finley was a fan as well

There's really nothing like roasting hot dogs on the fire

Did I mention how breath-takingly gorgeous it was?

Mmmm... pancakes from a can. At least they're organic? It just feels wrong, but was fun.

A morning 3 & 1/2 mile hike. These boys were troopers!

They were thrilled to find hiking sticks

We had glow sticks which were a lot of fun at night

It was so pretty!

Our second night it got down to the lower 30's. We were COLD!

Long lashes and dirty fingernails

Brrrrr...

Get that fire going, Daddy!

Yay! Can't wait to go back next year!

We really had a great time. We also went into Bend while we were there and wandered around. We toured Deschutes Brewery and ate dinner at their pub. We stopped by our friends, The Cummings, campsite for a cheery hello. Next time we go, I'm looking forward to wandering through Sisters. They had the cutest downtown area that is begging for me to explore!
