Happy Birthday Spencer!

On Tuesday, August 4th, my wonderful big boy turned 6 YEARS OLD!

Where has the time gone?

Spencer is such a joy.  He is kind, caring, joyful, enthusiastic, energetic, creative and he loves his little brothers dearly.  He talks often about how Hudson is his buddy and he takes seriously the fact that he gets to help teach Hudson cool things.  He also loves to help with "baby" Finley.  He has a huge imagination, constantly building forts and creating things.  He loves to sit at the table and draw things and make up stories.  He's also incredibly inquisitive and full of questions.  His favorite thing to do outside is ride his Razor scooter.  He loves it so much in fact that he has lost interest in learning how to ride a bike.  I can see why the way he flies down the street on his Razor!  Emma & Jackson are his best friends in the world but he also talks about how much he adores his buddy Ryan as well.  He doesn't get much more excited either when we talk about playing with his buddy Mason or cousin Stewart.  And if he sees Caleb out front he can hardly wait to get out there and play with match box cars.  Swimming is a new love for Spencer as well.  He took lessons this summer where we saw serious progress... so exciting.  We are looking forward to him starting Kindergarten this fall.  He is already reading and writing and we're thinking this is going to be an incredible year for him!  When people told me that boys are fun, I seriously had no idea!!!

Here are some photos of his birthday... I'll post some of his Birthday Party another day!
Cutting up Pizza for Finley.  Spencer asked for cheese pizza for his Birthday Dinner.  Easy enough!  We also had fresh pineapple... yum!

And Chocolate Cake for dessert

He liked the Cake!  He is also modeling the birthday crown he created for himself the minute he got home from Vacation Bible School and his own special bib that he created right before dinner.  Silly boy!

Letting Hudson help him open his birthday presents

Playing with his new toy from his family.  Big Bad Boomin Bugs!  Simply capture a helpless bug and you can not only look at it through the magnifying glass on top but listen to it as well.  Good times!

I meant to tell you I was really proud of Spencer this week. When it was really crazy on the day I volunteered at VBS during the singing intro time in the sanctuary, Spencer noticed that a little girl sitting next to him was freaking out for many reasons (one of which she didn't want to sit by a boy, eye roll on my part). But he just took it in stride and problem-solved by asking Emma to trade places with him so the girl would calm down. He did all of that without an adult suggesting or intervening. He just noticed the problem and calmly solved it. I watched it all and then told him how proud I was of his problem-solving skills. Some good maturity there on his part.
