Disneyland - Day 3

May 12, 2009
Tuesday morning we had our “Early Entry” day. We got to the gates at 7:30am and at 8am got to go in. We saw Goofy inside the main gates... even though the boys had seen their share of characters, they were still thrilled. I think this is the best part of Disneyland with kids as little as ours. We went and did Buzz Lightyear first… fun fun ride!

From there we took Spencer on the Matterhorn. He said the Yeti was too scary and does not seem to be interested in trying any more rollercoasters. Mom and Dad took the little boys on Alice in Wonderland while we did that, and then we did Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride and Pinnochio. Unfortunately Peter Pan was closed (my personal favorite). After that we went and rode "It’s a small world." Finley’s eyes were wide through the entire ride! Both Spencer and Hudson loved singing right along. Since I've ridden it last they've added a smattering of Disney characters throughout the ride so it was fun to watch for them.

From there we wandered over to Toon Town and met Mickey Mouse. The boys had fun running around checking out all the bells and whistles of this part of the park. They also got to meet Mickey which they really loved and then got to check out his super cool house. Spencer was confused as to why he couldn’t find Donald Duck… we hope we find him sometime this week!

From there we had a fabulous lunch at the Blue Bayou. I was surprised at how great the boys did there. Finley ate some of Hudson’s chicken, spaghetti and grapes. Mom, Dad and Kent each ordered an entrée and I ate part of each of theirs. I loved being able to try different things. We also ordered a cookie boat (complete with edible mast) and a crème brulee trio (complete with an edible treasure chest). It was a truly special meal.

After that what else was there to do but go on Pirates of the Carribean? I was a little apprehensive because this was a ride that sent Spencer into tears as a 21 month old. This time I remembered to tell the boys about the two drops inside the ride… I told them it was like a slide and they all handled it really well and loved the ride. We loved the new Jack Sparrow additions!

After that we headed out of the park for quiet rest time… Mom and Dad headed to Downtown Disney to do a little shopping and Kent took Spencer down to the pool at our hotel again. He has had an absolute blast at the pool this week! After quiet rest time we headed back into California Adventure. Spencer’s feet were so tired by now (his little brothers get the stroller). He got to ride on Kent’s shoulders for a while as we got to the park.

First we went and rode the Monsters Inc ride… the kids seemed to love it… it was basically the entire Monsters Inc movie in under 5 minutes. Next we went and did the Muppet 3D show. Hudson seemed amazed and Spencer tried to reach out to grab the 3D bubbles. Cute, cute show!

From there we went and did Turtle Talk with Crush. This was hysterical. Crush chose Spencer right off the bat and asked him where he was from. He said “America” and then he asked him to be a little more specific and he said “A-mer-ica” only slower and with a little “surfer dude” to it. He asked him who he was here with and he said, “Sally and Kent” they’re my Mom and Dad and my Grandpa and Grandma too. Crush got a kick out of that… “Do you always call your Mom & Dad Sally & Kent?” Then Crush talked to Kent for a while but Spencer of course kept on talking about who his brothers were and on and on. I had to get up to tell him he could only talk if he had the microphone. From there we walked back and had a fabulous dinner (yet again) at Mimi’s. Whew what a day!

We are having such a fun week... it's busy but so great how easy going it is at the same time.
