Disneyland - Day 4

May 13, 2009
Wednesday –

Wednesday we started our morning out at Storytellers at the Grand Californian Hotel. What a beautiful restaurant! This was the hotel we stayed at for our first Disneyland vacation as a family. It was fabulous! The bears from Brother Bear were in the entry way when we came in and immediately enveloped the big boys in bear hugs, picking their feet up off the floor in the process. The kids thought this was fabulous, of course! The food was positively wonderful! They also had a Ranger lady who came around and talked to us and the kids saw Chip & Dale and Rafiki as well as another character whose name I don’t recall. After our yummy breakfast we headed to Disneyland.

Once we got into Disneyland we went straight for the new Finding Nemo submarine ride. This is a newer ride so it was one we had to go to early in the day so as to beat the lines. It was definitely cute and long. I was glad we were seated by the door… it was a little tight in there and I was anxious to get off the ride when it was over! After that, Mom and Dad took the little boys on Buzz Lightyear again while Kent and I took Spencer on Star Tours. He thought it was really cool! Then we went into the gift shop and Spencer got to build a light saber. He loved doing that.

After that we checked out Jedi Night training but the competition to get “selected” was fierce and a little too intimidating to Spencer so we ended up moving on. We walked to the Tiki Room and got a Dole Whip and the kids enjoyed the show. It was really cute and they loved it.

We headed back to main street and enjoyed lunch at the Carnation Café (Hudson fell asleep on the way there). The chef there was so sweet and made sure that we had a place to put our stroller by our table so Hudson could sleep away. Spencer got the “Painters Pallet.” It was a pallet with two slices of bread and little bowls of peanut butter, jelly, raisins, bananas and marshmallows. From there he could create his sandwich. He loved doing this! I had the most delicious Baked Potato Soup I’ve ever had!

Mom, Finley and I wandered into the gift store from here while the others finished their meal and noticed outside that Donald Duck was out! Spencer had been looking for him everywhere. So we quickly went and grabbed Spencer and took him out there to meet his favorite character. Spencer was thrilled. When it was his turn to meet him he jumped up and down quacking all the way and telling Donald Duck about his favorite episodes he’s seen. The Cast Member even got a kick out of this. It totally made my day and may have been my favorite moment of the trip.

From here we found a “screening room” on main street where we were able to get out of the business for a while. Hudson was able to continue to nap and Dad and Kent took Spencer to head over to Splash Mountain. This was definitely Spencer’s favorite ride… he absolutely loved it! Mom, Finley and Hudson and I made it over there by the time they got off the ride. Kent treated the boys to lollipops and we sat in the shade for a bit while they enjoyed those. They were so excited for these fun colored lollipops!

We then walked over to California Adventure where we took in a Playhouse Disney show. This cute little show had Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny, Little Einsteins and Tigger and Pooh. It was done with puppets like the Muppet Show used to be performed. It was cute and the kids seemed to enjoy it.

Next we hung out at the Animation Studio... this is one of our favorite places to hang out.  It's indoors and huge with gigantci movie screens encircling the room.  It shows some great scences from different Disney movies and the best part for us was that it gave Finley the opportunity to crawl around.  He got tired of being carried or pushed everywhere!  We finished our fun day at a restaurant called Tratoria.  It was just so, so... not one of our better meals.  Back to the hotel after this for rest and a little swimming at that great pool once again!  And then Mom & Dad were nice enough to let Kent and I go and relax at Mimi's again!

Yay!  We found Buzz!
